We have just launched Dovecot Pro 3.0, which has been designed from the ground up, based on customer/operator feedback and the changing requirements of the wider market.
Leveraging our unique position and nearly two decades of email backend experience, this new version of Dovecot Pro is cloud-native by design, to better facilitate how complex network services are operated today. It is highly available and can scale to tens of millions of active users.
The team has spent several years designing, building, and testing our new platform. It was first deployed on Open-Xchange’s OX Cloud email platform late 2023. The team then spent a year gathering feedback and refining the platform to improve operation and efficiency of key features, and ensure the product is production-ready for external Dovecot Pro customers from the beginning.
Dovecot Pro 3.0 has been built on our exclusive Palomar architecture and, apart from delivering high availability, a distributed email server platform and the ability to handle a variety of email storage options, it also provides many cost-saving benefits. These include the ability to use cloud-based storage options like object storage, the freedom to balance CapEx against OpEx and a highly efficient Full Text Search (FTS) capability that removes the need for a separate search service.
As with previous versions of Dovecot Pro, customers get a resilient, reliable, efficient, and easy to manage platform that is fully supported by the experts who built it; however, they now also get a range of new operations/management features, including zero downtime maintenance, built-in health checking, load rebalancing, integrated user/group management, cluster control and administration, A/B testing, integrated statistics, and centralized administration, just to mention a few.
