Dispatch from CTIA Super Mobility 2015

Each year I look forward to attending CTIA’s Super Mobility conference and this year’s event in Las Vegas did not disappoint. As one of the largest and most influential forums focused on mobile innovation, we at Open-Xchange had the opportunity to network and share insights with an attendee list of more than 35,000 professionals from all across the mobile landscape.

Over the years, the conference has grown in parallel to meet the needs of the changing mobile space. Here are some of the observations we made during some of the many conversations we had during the event this week:

Customer Experience

Customer experience is still paramount to decision-making. Carriers are increasingly focused on providing high-quality experiences for their customers in a variety of ways, so they’re looking to break into new areas to improve the level of the experience. We’re seeing that carriers are increasingly focused on the quality of calls, the speed of the network, are branching out into increased value-added services for their end users in order to offer differentiated services in an every increasingly competitive market.

Efficiencies and the importance of DNS

As many operators are aware, and others are just learning, the efficiency of their DNS strategy is a key component in the Customer’s “experience” with their service. More specifically, Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) are starting to pop up everywhere and, as such, there’s a growing interest in tapping into the “power” of PowerDNS, or as many like to call it, the phonebook of the Internet. Much like with any carrier, DNS is critical in helping these emerging MVNOs provide a better user experience and efficiencies across the board, and also ease number portability.

Tailoring the Offering

Mobile devices are providing a lot of value to carriers, improving the efficiency of their interactions with their customers. With the growth in mobile, there is an increasing need for offerings that can be individually-tailored to provide customers with a unique mix of products and value-added services. We know our OX App Suite is key to providing that capability – unified email, text, voice, video messaging, file sharing, and collaboration – and that vital piece of full integration with existing systems; and, of course, with PowerDNS behind the scenes insuring an efficient experience for the user.
