Lets Get Social- A Review of OX Summit 2012

Nov 22, 2012

It’s all about being social and communicating.  I just got back from OX Summit 2012 and did it ever rock.  And I mean that literally.  I hope someone posts some video of the Hblockx performance.

Besides the fun and good times, OX Summit 2012 was a truly interactive and social event.  If you follow me (@jonmccarrick) or Open-Xchange (@openexchange) on twitter (Search for #OXS12) you saw a constant stream of news, announcements, and partnerships coming from the show. Here are a few gems in case you missed them:

1)  OX App Suite announced- Beginning in mid-December, OX will be launching its next generation product, OX App Suite.  This product features a new portal view that allows quick access to Twitter, Facebook, E-mail (of course), Flickr, Linkedin and many other services that create the a complete window to your social world.  Additionally, the interface is written in HTML 5 and the latest Java scripts to enable great customizability, smooth performance and scaling on all devices.

2)  OX staff is super talented- Big kudos to the entire team for a superb event.  From the VIP dinner to the event location to the presentations, everything was top notch. Special recognition to Cisco and Matthias for their very creative and engaging demonstration of the new features.  I now want to be in an ice cream stand up meeting.  I guess you had to be there. Speaking of which…. If you were not there this year, please start planning now to be in Hamburg with us in November of 2013.

3)  OX has a great partner vendor community- Several partner vendors made important product announcements of their own this week at the OX Summit. If you have not, you should check out these vendors because of their strong support of the OX ecosystem:  LuxCloud, Audriga, Parallels, Scality, Openwave, SpamExperts, Fotolia, Fujitsu, ProfitBricks, Digitec, Eleven, FairRank, and Univention.  As you will see, we have everything in the community of partners to create your complete solution.

4)  OX has great partners- Last but not least, we had excellent partner participation at the Summit.  We doubled the number of participants and had many US companies join us at the show for the first time. As the Hosting Evangelist to the Americas, I had a chance to meet with every one of them. They reported that they got so much from coming to the Summit and were glad they could attend. I know that next year in Hamburg, we will more than double attendance again as our great partner community grows. I hope to see you there.

In closing, I want to point out that while some huge announcements were made at the Summit, keep your eyes on this space because there are enormous announcements coming over the next 12 months.  Please contact sales today so that we can help get you the inside scoop even before the rest of the world knows.
