Secure email service – OX partner mailbox.org wins comparative investigation

Written by guest | Oct 5, 2016

Long-time Open-Xchange partner, and OX App Suite vendor, Heinlein Support has won an important comparitive investigation between email providers. The Berlin-based firm Heinlein Support consults clients on Linux, internet security and email communication related topics.

Its mailbox.org brand prevailed over competitors like Gmail, Outlook.com and Yahoo Mail in an independent evaluation taking into account functionality and usability, with a specific focus on data security and privacy features.

The test was performed by the German foundation Stiftung Warentest. Stiftung Warentest was established by the German federal parliament to help consumers by „providing impartial and objective information based on the results of comparative investigations of goods and services“. Millions follow its online and offline magazines.

The result was clear, with mailbox.org achieveing top grades. It prevailed in particular due to the easy-to-use encryption options for users, and the general approach to data security and minimization were highlighted. In times of digital surveillance and shoulder surfing we appreciate that Stiftung Warentest emphasizes the importance of these aspects of email solutions. This is why mailbox.org currently provides users with OX App Suite version 7.8.1 (and will shortly update to OX App Suite 7.8.2) including a variety of security functions. Of course, these also include Open-Xchange’s simple encryption solution OX Guard, a product to which mailbox.org made important contributions to from the very beginning.

Peer Heinlein thanks his team at mailbox.org and all the external security experts, who support mailbox.org in setting new encryption standards. In addition, mailbox.org has a very close relationship to its customers, who actively engage with the team and generate ideas and suggestions to improve their services.

Of course, this also leads to improvements for OX products, which is why we would like to join Heinlein in saying thank you to both the mailbox.org team and users.

Congratulations and well done!
