OXS17 Brussels – Where 21st Century privacy and security meet

Written by Rafael Laguna | Sep 27, 2017

In less than two weeks, leading figures of the OX ecosystem, stakeholders from hosting, telco and Cloud service-providers will come together in Brussels, Europe’s capital, for a “Summit Like No Other”.

More than 300 delegates will be joining us at the city of architectural, culinary and artistic connoisseurs for two-days of inspirational industry keynotes and product demonstrations.

The break-out sessions and networking opportunities with business executives will provide delegates with invaluable insights as they share their models for success.

This year the focus of OX Summit is the business of privacy: the growing economic argument for privacy-first services. Open-Xchange, our partners and customers will be demonstrating how a federated ecosystem of trusted service providers offer a more secure vision of the internet, an alternative to the dominance of Google, Facebook and Amazon, and one that is rapidly taking hold across Europe.

Jan Phillip Albrecht, MEP, Rapporteur of the European Parliament for data protection regulation will discuss what service providers need to know about the EU’s new privacy laws. He will highlight key aspects of the new law, the impact it will have on the Telco industry and how to start preparing for it. Eric Léandri, Co-founder and CEO, Qwant will also explain how ‘search’ can remain private yet profitable for service providers.

Finally, in an increasingly digitalised global economy, the European data protection reforms as encompassed by the GDPR and the eventual ePrivacy regulation are significant pieces of legislation that will change the face of data processing for organisations in Europe and beyond. A critical component of the new reforms as provisioned for in the legislation is the appointment of a data protection officer (DPO) to ensure both compliance and business enablement. Hear from Paul Jordan, managing director of the iapp.org Europe, on how this role will be crucial to ensuring organisational accountability, privacy by design and continuity for businesses.

With Brussels taking centre-stage for the 9th annual OX Summit, join us on October 12th and 13th to shine a spotlight on the importance of privacy and security as a value-add in an era of constant data breaches and mass surveillance.

OX Summit will open at The Egg, the Rue Bara 175, Brussels on Thursday 12th October. Doors for delegates officially open at 9AM and the first keynote will kick off at 10AM. If you have not yet registered for the event, please do so here.

I look forward to seeing you all at Brussels!
