Open-Xchange has just released new versions for three of its products: Both the messaging and collaboration platform OX App Suite and the office suite OX Documents are available as version 7.8.4. The security add-on for OX App Suite, OX Guard, is available as version 2.8.0.
OX App Suite 7.8.4
The easy-to-use email, communication, and collaboration platform comes with new features, such as a feedback dialog, which allows users to send feedback to their service providers using a built-in feedback button. User feedback is incredibly valuable for service providers looking to improve certain products or features. This is why the new feedback mechanism asks users for a 5-star-rating of OX App Suite and its individual modules. Users can also add more detailed text comment every time they provide feedback. The collected feedback is stored persistently and can be exported or sent via email in CSV format.
The cloud storage solution OX Drive now offers a slide show to view or present photos. Users can start the slide show from any image and enjoy the available photos in an extended view.
When used together with Dovecot Pro, OX App Suite 7.8.4 provides users with a new inbox folder for unread messages. Users already benefit from a tabbed inbox and a flexible folder tree providing them with many organizational options for their emails. To further improve this approach, users can now find all their unread messages in a specific folder.
OX Documents 7.8.4
OX Documents allows users to edit and create text documents, spreadsheets and presentations, complete with real-time collaboration features, version control, and permission management. OX Documents 7.8.4 comes with new features for all three applications, OX Text, OX Spreadsheet and OX Presentation.
For example, users could already edit existing tables of contents in text documents. Now it is also possible to create a completely new table of content using OX Text. This makes working with longer documents much simpler.
With version 7.8.4, OX Spreadsheet offers a dedicated formula bar within the toolbar. The bar shows any formula or data contained in a selected cell and allows users to use and edit formulas more efficiently.
The latest module of the OX Documents package, OX Presentation, provides users with everything they need to create, edit and present slide decks. OX Presentation now supports the use of placeholders within the slide master template to create simple or professional presentations.
OX Guard 2.8.0
The PGP based security add-on for OX App Suite, OX Guard, lets users encrypt/decrypt emails and files easily. Together with OX Documents, OX Guard now also allows for the creation and editing of encrypted documents. Users can edit documents without having to decrypt them first and then re-encrypt afterwards. This again provides users with additional privacy and security, without adding complexity to their daily tasks.
