In a week, some 4000 people are going to be rushing towards a tiny little town on the German-French border and at speeds that make local farmers and their livestock heads spin. Yes, it is that time each spring where the crème de la crème of the hosting industry converge on Europe’s 2nd most popular theme park resort. And I for one, cannot wait to see just how far (and fast) partners have come enabling cloud-based models of doing business since last year.
The biggies will be there, sure: HP, Microsoft, Verisign and even Intel and Samsung. Hardware and software…cloud 3rd party vendors, all getting together in a town called “Rust.” All racing to the center to capture a piece of a cloud business model, but in reality: operating out of tradition. Tradition is not a business model. Not at the speed the Internet delivers.
In this day and age, it still is amazing how fast two things occur: how fast you can lose trust – less than 3 seconds if your UX (user experience) is cluttered or complicated—and equally how just how much faster a good idea whose time has come, spreads. The best ideas these days, come in the form of a business model. One based on a gut feeling of a need not being served and tested with the people who are screaming for a solution.
