The summer of TES in 2018 goes all around the planet – and for a project that was born in the heart of Europe, this is a great result. In June, as part of the build-up to the ICANN meeting in Panama, the first TES meeting in Colombia – the third in Latin America – was held successfully at the Club Colombo-Libanés in Bogotá. A distinguished audience of telco and IT professionals was welcomed by CITI‘s country manager Youssef Daou, and greeted by a very high level speaker: the Colombian government’s vice-minister for the Digital Economy, Juanita Rodríguez Kattah.
More speakers, both local and international, entertained the crowd on the future of email and on the technicalities of email transport security and of DNSSEC: among them, Felipe Sarmiento from Colombia’s regulatory commission on telecommunications, Jacob Ortega from CITI, Vittorio Bertola from Open-Xchange, and Erik Julin from Scality, that also sponsored the final dinner, where all participants had a way to exchange views and build relationships while enjoying nice cuisine and even a box of Mexican chocolates.
But this is not all: after a well deserved summer break, TES resumes its activity with an absolute debut: the first TES meeting ever in Asia. Tokyo will be the city: thanks to the support of Dovecot KK, Japan will host another discussion on email security, where Bertola and Julin will discuss with the biggest experts of the field in the country. This meeting will also support the effort for the JPMAAWG meetups, to bring the results of the M3AAWG into Japan.
It will be a new experience for TES before starting to make plans for 2019: and we look forward to it.
