"起 " (Seven, in Chinese)

Written by Chris Latterell | Nov 23, 2012

Even after seven days, people are still taking about the message and connections they made at the Open-Xchange Summit in Berlin. I am thankful–after all, it is Thanksgiving time back where I am from–that you all made it back to home and back into work in one piece (albeit, still tapping your toes to the rocking we did in the “Alte Münze”). Sorry about that. Well, not really.

In Chinese, the number seven symbolizes “togetherness” and is associated to a similar sounding word that means “arise.” In the West, it is known as the luckiest number that there is. But last week, when the attendees of the 4th annual OX Summit stood up, we rose together to connect the value of our business with a laser focus on the unmet need and real opportunity immediately before us. The individual. You. Me. The small business your neighbor runs out of her house across the street. The purpose we now share to serve them, and provide meaningful services for their digital lives is everywhere we read and turn. Actually, it is these digital lives that we now lead that consumes the majority of our daily interaction time throughout the day — personally and professionally — that needs more than just a little luck.

I for one, find it extremely lucky that people have bought into the idea of this clutter in our real lives. Carrying two or more mobile phones…really? In Cupertino, they boost over 700,000 apps in their store and an astounding 25 BILLION downloads. The Google Play Store shared almost the exact set of numbers this past September: what are we all actually DOING with these apps?! Personally, I use no more than 6 apps online casino constantly (on average) on any given day. How about you?

People don”t need luck to this extent, they need help. Apps were designed to aide and make our lives simpler, make our communications and content easily get connected. What we”re seeing are new challenges the proliferation apps, their privacy schemes and not the user being able to control how apps control us. You should understand more on what OX App Suite can do for your business — announced last week from Berlin.

Want to know more about how we intend to roll-out our solution for “Fighting Featuritis(sm)…?” Then follow our interactive roadmap.

It”s fun looking back now at the past week and skyfall of coincidences…Berlin”s 775th Birthday this month as one of the most prolific cities and tech capitals in modern history. The Alte Münze over 700 year history in making money on the banks of the Spree River. The next-generation of Open-Xchange software (previous code-named “OX7″) OX App Suite. Signs, signs, everywhere signs…We may not have our MI6-issued license to kill (yet), but with OX App Suite, service providers will be helping their users get rid of the overwhelming experiences of App overload and join the link economy with Open-Xchange.

Thank you again Partners! We couldn”t do it without you.
