2016 marked the 8th annual Open-Xchange Summit and boy was it a big one. Or should I say two! After the success of OX Summit Chicago this September, OX Summit Frankfurt had a lot to live up to. Thankfully, and as expected, it delivered in spades. On the banks of Frankfurt’s pristine River Main, it was a pleasure to see so many industry heavy-hitters meeting, greeting and sharing valued business knowledge and technological expertise.
Our CEO Rafael Laguna opened proceedings in his usual impassioned manner. He discussed the nature and potential of a ‘post silo internet’ and how to counteract monopolies that the Apples Amazons and Googles of this world are desperately trying to create.
Fascinating insights were shared by all of our keynote speakers: Dave Birss showed us how businesses should look closely at their existing strengths and capabilities to innovate iteratively and what it takes for a brand to become ‘iconic’.
Mikko Hypponen revealed the extent of the threat that hackers pose through ransomware and used his history of virus analysis to explain how fundamentally the cyber security game has changed in the last twenty-five years. You can watch Mikko’s keynote speech here.
OX Summit has always been the industry event that brings together the software vendors and service providers that are fighting the status quo of outdated business models and exploitative data practices.
Every year we welcome a global network of key decision makers from global hosters, online casino telcos, and infrastructure providers to share knowledge, make contacts and meet the pioneers who are shaping the internet of tomorrow, today. This year was no exception.
We always say that the next OX Summit starts when the current one finishes and we’re already been busy planning next year’s events. It has been an incredible Summit 2016 and we can’t wait to welcome you to OX Summit Brussels on the 12th and 13th October 2017!
